OCCJ Rocks
August 9th, 2010Oklahoma musicians from a dozen different genres are banding together with the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice to fight against bias, bigotry and racism.
The public service campaign is inspired by legendary Oklahoma musician and fighter against social injustice, Woody Guthrie. He frequently performed with a sign on his guitar that read, “This machine kills facists.”
OCCJ invited musicians like the Red Dirt Rangers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jenny Labow and Fedel to autograph a guitar and paint what “their machine” fights for. Messages include, “this machine units generations,” “this machine fights to educate youth,” “this machine loves you,” and “this machine empowers chicks.”
