OWNERS OF A COAL FIRED POWER PLANT IN SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA HAVE GONE ON THE OFFENSIVE AGAINST CLAIMS THAT A BY PRODUCT OF THE PLANT IS MAKING PEOPLE SICK.

Why Some School Districts Say They Won't Comply With Henry Scholarship Law

Broken Arrow and Jenks Public Schools boards are the first in the state to vote to not to comply with a new state law that provides public funds in the form of Henry Scholarships to pay for private school tuition for special needs students.

The Henry Scholarships are part of state education funding that goes to school districts. Under the new law the districts are to funnel the money for the scholarships to parents of special needs students to pay for those children to attend private schools.

The districts call the funding mechanism unconstitutional and claim it is a first step toward a voucher system allowing any public school student to transfer to a private school at public expense.
